“Hi, I’ve been using CCleaner for a while and I’m curious – does cleaning the Windows Registry with CCleaner actually improve PC performance, or is it just for fixing small errors? I’ve seen mixed opinions online, so I’d love to hear real experiences from the community.”
good for you to ask. the prevailing opinion, of staff, moderators, and Microsoft, is that registry cleaningshould be done judiciously, as you stated,
some of us have said that this advice went into effect with a particular modern windows version but I’ve been giving the same advice since i started using CCleaner back with windows xp. it’s in my signature but (stupidly)i think signatures are default off, so i apologize if this dobules.
never blindly clean your registry; always make backups; go small, run one checkbox at a time; look at each invididuslly found issue (you’ll be given a second chance to do this after pressing fix but it’s best to do when you have the checkbox list.
