CCleaner won't automatically find updates

Hi guys, new to the forums. Been using CCleaner for a couple of years (free edition) and about 2, 3 releases ago it stoped notifing me of new updates. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit on a home wireless network and I noticed several other programs that have stopped auto-updating as well. I did not make any changes to my firewall or wireless settings. I know I can update manually, I'm just trying to see what caused this sudden behaviour.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum adyghost :)

What other programs have stopped auto-updating?

(If they are not Piriform products then we'll move this thread to the software section)

Are the programs that have stopped auto updating running at startup? (you can check this in msconfig or ccleaner/tools/startup.

Are you running as admin?

Hi, the other programs are not Piriform products. I can also see that CCleaner doesn't start at startup... some of the other programs do though. But shouldn't CCleaner notify me as soon as I start the program anyway?

Thanks for your help.

If some of your other products have stopped auto updating and they are not Piriform products this shows you may have a system problem as opposed to a ccleaner problem.

1. What are the other programs that have stopped auto-updating?

2. Is you anti-virus up to date and scans clean?

3. Are you still able to get Windows updates?

4. Is your system time correct?

1. My other programs are Seagate Dashboard, Daemon Tools Lite, MuseScore, and Avast (that I've noticed so far...)

2. I use Avast Free Edition and I have kept it up to date manually for the past couple of weeks

3. Windows updates periodically with no issues

4. I have recently changed time zones but my system time has not changed... besides the problems started occuring long before.

Some programs will not update if the system time is wrong, I am unsure as to what affect a timezone change would have on them. To have so many stop auto updating could indicate a deeper issue.

Have you considered asking on the Avast forums for assistance with the auto update problem?

Have you noticed any other issues affecting your pc?

Have you re checked your firewall settings just in case?

Are you the only user on the machine?

Perhaps also consider asking for a check of your machine at one of the malware forums listed in this post.... just in case

My pc is malware free, of that at least I'm sure. I'm also the only user with full administrator privileges. I'll try removing the firewall and see what the results are...
