I use CCleaner v6.02.9938 (64 bit). free for home use, on my windows 10 pro, 64-bit pc. My browser is Edge Chromium.
Every 4 or 5 days I do the custom clean to flush out the temporary files etc. Normally this has worked fine, but on the last few occasions, I note that on the 'report' of files it intends to delete (prior to clicking run cleaner), it states 'skipped' against Internet Cache, Cookies and Internet history under Edge Chromium. Why is doing that? The vast majority of my temporary files build up quickly as a result of my browsing with edge chromium..where are they all going??
It's skipping them because something Edge related is still running in the background.
CCleaner can't clean things that are still running so 'skips' them.
To stop that happening you need to change a couple of settings in Edge.
Open Edge and go to the settings. (or in the address bar type: edge://settings/system)
In the Edge settings turn off both 'Startup Boost' and 'Continue running background apps when Microsoft Edge is closed'.
That should prevent Edge from running in the background after it has been closed.
(Note that updates to Edge will ocassionally turn Startup Boost back on, so if that happens you have to turn it off again).
