I have been a user of CCleaner for years now, and it is a great program! But I am not please that with CCleaner v5.45.6611 x64, you are no longer able to disable active monitoring. I do not like it when I cannot control functions like this. I am an IT professional, with a Masters degree, and I do not need a program that will not allow me to choose the options that I want/need.
I have found a work around to not being able to disable it, but I have to do it every time I run the program.
I am hoping that this is just a known bug and that they are working on a fix. From what I have been able to tell, everyone is having this problem, and no one is happy about it.
I don't think it's a bug. I think they thought they'd sneak it in and no-one would notice. They're now saying there'l be a fix in a few weeks.
It's easier to go back to an earlier version. You can get earlier versions on FileHippo, just don't let it update.
Yup, not a bug.
It's deliberate functionality they've admitted to, as well as saying they still collect User data even after that option is also disabled as well.
Scroll further down/back in the Forum here and look for threads going back a few weeks now.
This for example:
The simplest solution I found that has worked now for multiple re-boots is to use SysInternals Autoruns - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns After starting Autoruns in the "Everything" tab, type ccleaner in the filter box and uncheck CCleaner Update in the Task Scheduler section.
