The Piriform team would like to announce the latest release of CCleaner for Windows.

This small update improves cleaning of Edge and Windows, cleans additional website tracking cookies from Chrome, and enhances the stability of the application. If you have suggestions for what you'd like to see next in CCleaner, please drop by our forums and let us know in our suggestions area.

Browser Cleaning

  • Edge: Session clean no longer removes set-aside tabs
  • Chrome: Added support for cleaning cookies from Local Storage

Cookies

  • Chrome Local Storage Cookies can now be managed from Cookie Manager

Windows

  • CCleaner no longer cleans the list of files waiting to be renamed (PFRO.log)

Installer

  • Fixed 'Error opening file for writing' error

General

  • Fixed a library dependency that was preventing CCleaner from opening on Wndows XP in some cases
  • Fixed a rare case where CCleaner could check for updates multiple times in a short space of time

We have updated the Free and Pro Trial installers today to address an installer performance issue that could have resulted in delayed launching of the installer in some cases.

  • If you already have CCleaner installed you do not need to perform an update or take any other action.
  • The CCleaner 32-bit and 64-bit executables have not changed, therefore the CCleaner version number is the same (5.38.99.6357).
  • The CCUpdate.exe is rebuilt from scratch as part of the CC installer build process, so this has a new file hash although it is built from the same source as before.
  • The new file hashes have been published above.
