I use Windows Defender as my anti virus software and do not have MalwareBytes. When I updated my CCleaner (which I've been using for years, thank you), it installed Avast! on my computer without any notice, delayed or otherwise. I would have opted out had I been given a notice, because I like to choose what gets put on my computer. This is the second time CCleaner has done this. I do hope you've fixed the problem because I'd hate to ditch a good program for bad business practices.

I installed the update maybe 15 mins after turning on my computer and used the custom install <img alt="" data-emoticon="1" src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/default_mad.gif" title=""></p>

Let's not get side-tracked. This thread is specifically about the Avast offer, not any Google offer. They work very differently.
I am looking to gather any information about issues with the Avast offer from people who have directly experienced it.
I download the avastclear.exe file and ran it from the administrator account while in safe mode but there are a lot of "pieces" left around that I can not get rid of. On top of that it appears that AVAST has blocked access to Windows Defender !

Hi theoldwizard,
It sounds like during installation Avast was registered in Windows Security Center as the active antivirus solution, but the installation process did not complete successfully. Please try these steps:
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Avast and select Repair
Restart the PC and then go to Control Panel and Uninstall a Program
Select Avast and fully complete the uninstallation process

I already removed Avast! using CCleaner, but there were may files left in C:\Windows\winsxs.
Quickest/easiest solution was to boot a Linux System Rescue Disk and nukes them that way !
This is only evidence of corrupt asses makin money off of unsuspecting consumers. what a ghastly and suckola trick for people wanting business to use!...PLEASE at this point uninstall all Piriform and Avast products from your machine!...............who knows what nefarious plan is next for these outright law-breakin scoundrels.........Avast Sucks as an anti-virus anyways!....this sucks that I should have to even deal with these scum-like individuals........Been a strong fan of C Cleaner for many a years, but no more......

say you dont install 3rd party junk all you want i know for a fact that you did.
Avast acts like a hijacker seriously poor choice to associate yourselves with this programme. CCleaner I am so disappointed right now wasting my time trying to get rid of that junk programme. For everyone else please be careful to read carefully before updating your cleaner from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All AV vendors have a specific removal tool you need to run after the normal uninstall procedure. I just edited the registry and got rid of it that way.
Since we are gathering all feedback and reported incidents in another thread, I will close this one now. Please visit the thread below for the latest updates and to provide what info you can so we can resolve this.
