Ccleaner v5.16 works 5.20 does not open. Windows 7 64bit

Ccleaner v5.16 works; 5.20 does not open. Windows 7 64bit.

Anyone else having this problem?

I have been using v5.16 because the later versions will not open.

thanks.

What anti virus are you using?

Try uninstalling 5.16.. rebooting ...and then installing the slim build from here

https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

Hello,

I'm using: Microsoft Security Essentials.

I uninstalled 5.16.. rebooted ...and then installed the slim build from the link provided. CCleaner still does not open.

Download and install appeared to work normally.

Thanks.

Here is the error message when it opens for a fraction of a second.

Please run ccleaner in debug mode, recreate the crash and attach the log here

Here is the content of the log file.

I also looked in Windows Task Manager: Piriform CCleaner [DEBUG] Not Responding

Uninstalled CCleaner v5.22.5724, installed 5.16.555 again and CCleaner works fine. (I do not know if the versions between 5.16 and 5.20 will work or not)

All the previous versions installed, worked fine. Something changed in the CCleaner code after v5.16 that is not compatible with my system.

I'm stumped because everything else appears to operate normally on my PC.

When this issue first happened (winter/spring 2016?) post v5.16 would not open, I figured it was a bug in CCleaner and it would be resolved.

Question:

Protection softwares such as "Microsoft Security Essentials" or "Malwarebytes", only the database for the latest protection is updated, not the whole program. Is there a reason why the whole program is updated each time for CCleaner?

Does Ccleaner work if you boot into Windows Safe Mode and run it then?

What happens if you rename CCleaner64.exe to something else, (eg. CCleaner643.exe) and then run Ccleaner? You can always rename it back afterwards.

Yes, CCleaner v5.22 does open/work in Safe Mode.

Renaming to CCleaner643.exe does not open in Normal Mode.

There is a .dmp file created each time an attempt is made to open v5.22. It appears to be written in visual C++.

Again, "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file".

I tried to get a partial screen shot of the .dmp file.

Are you zipping up the dump file before attaching it?

No, I was not (didn't know) but I now have zipped and attached it. Learn something new everyday.

Hi Tommy23, could you please email us at support@piriform.com and one of our agents will be able to help you troubleshoot this. Thanks!

Will e-mail .dmp file to address above.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I e-mailed support@piriform.com a week ago ( 10-17-2016 ) as directed and attached the .dmp file.

As of now, I have not gotten a response other than the automated response to let me know they received the e-mail.

Any suggestions??

Thanks.

I can't answer why they haven't got back to you. However since then they've released 5.23.5808, which has problems.

Morning Tommy23. We often see an increase in ticket numbers after a release which is why nobody has got back to you yet. I've located your ticket and replied to you myself :) My apologies that you didn't hear from anyone else sooner!
