I have been using CCleaner successfully for years, but only recently after some problems looked at the other facilities of the program. In start-up there are many many programs that start on boot-up. Does anyone have a list or location where one can assess (1) what each one does and (2) whether a program can be disabled without affecting normal operation. Basicaly I want to know what affects what, if I disabl;e a start-up.
I have very few startups enabled on any of my machines.
Anti-virus of course I keep enabled, but as for others such as Printers, Machine makers startups (HP, Dell etc) I don't bother with.
It's a personal thing I guess, but as you are seeing, the more you have, the slower your machine boots.
Disabling for example a printer, which is set to run at start up just means that you will start it manually instead.
Sort of like have a car on your drive, you wouldn't leave the engine running just in case you wanted to drive the car would you? No, you start the car up when you want to use it.
What operating system are you running?
Perhaps post a screenshot showing your startups so you can get some ideas from members on what they disable.
