CCleaner skipping Microsoft Edge - Need fix

Hi,

CCleaner version v6.2611169 (64-bit) running on Windows 11 Professional (x64) Version 23H2 (build 22631.3880). CCleaner is skipping over Microsoft Edge when cleaning. Here's a screenshot:

Question: What's the fix? Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

Joe

Before a clean, open task manager and kill msedge (check both running apps and processes (further down the list).

Hi Nergal - Well, that certainly works. However, this problem only popped up yesterday. There has to be a fix other than the one you posted.

Thanks for the tip.

Joe

P.S. I've been using CCleaner since it was called Crap Cleaner in beta.

You may have hidden the warning (and CCleaner's attempt to close edge) go to options> advanced and uncheck hide warning messages.

This is edge's fault not CCleaner so you can uncheck a few things in edge's settings to lessen the frequency of edge not closing properly.

In edge settings go to system and performance. Turn off startup boost and continue running extensions and apps when Microsoft edge is closed

Hello again,

I checked both areas on Edge you recommended. Both were already unchecked.

Then it maybe an addon that doesn't close right?

I had this alot a few months ago (i could tell because smart monitor would not fire when i closed edge) and just have become accustomed to having task manger minimized to the status bar. But for the last few weeks (since update tuesday june) everytime i close edge smart monitor pops up.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Edge updated a couple of days ago, and I believe CCleaner also updated recently. That might have caused the problem. For now, I'll just use the Task Manager to shut down Edge before I use CCleaner.

Thanks for your assistance.

Joe
