Hi. Although I have the item checked in the Cleaner Settings list, none of my Index.dat files are ever deleted when I run the Cleaner. How can I correct this fault please.? Cheers, Mabari.
Windows automatically recreates the files. CCleaner marks them for delete on next boot, they are deleted then Windows restores them though they are clean.
This is so FAQQY. So are about 100 other questions that we keep getting asked.
I concur.
Windows restores them though they are clean.
Thanks Tarun. I know that Windows restores the files but I should have distinguised between "delete" and "clean". My Index.dat files are presumably deleted and restored in the usual way (which means that they are always there whenever they're looked for) but if I select the "delete" item in Settings/ Windows, run Cleaner, reboot and immediately open my Content IE5/Index.dat file, it's contents are exactly the same as they were before the Cleaner run,so it has not been cleaned. This is what I am querying and I hope that, in this context, it is
not as FAQQY as it may have appeared.!! Sorry I irritated you and DjLizard. Cheers, Mabari.
Try IDSuite and see if that fixes the problem. Index.dat files will always have some information in them that is generic to Windows.
