Ccleaner Service task

Hello
How can I stop a window from popping up several times a day telling me I have the latest update? I’ve already tried manual updates, but it didn’t change anything. In Task Manager, I see the CCleaner service task. When I end it, it immediately restarts, even though the program is closed. The Task Manager shows something different. I’m about ready to return this program.

Hi @maritath21,
Please could you let me know what version of CCleaner you are using?
You can see this by going to Settings> Updates.

Version 7.3.1120.0

Thanks for this information @maritath21 please update to the latest version of CCleaner v7.5 using the link below, and let me know if you continue to experience this issue each time you run CCleaner.

The persistent update popups occur because the CCleaner background service is managed by the Windows Task Scheduler, not just the active program process. You may try this:

  • Open the Windows Task Scheduler, navigate to the “Task Scheduler Library,” and identify any tasks named “CCleanerUpdate”.

  • Right-click these tasks and select Disable to prevent them from triggering the update check automatically.

  • Open the CCleaner application, go to Options > Updates, and uncheck the setting “Automatically check for updates to CCleaner” to ensure the software does not re-enable these tasks.
