I am running CCleaner and have it set to do just a simple file scan (in the Windows and/or Applications)
It was running fine but then all of a sudden it wouldn't just run through ONCE but it would run through 7 or 8 times. I switched it to the simple scan as a test to see if that would resolve the problem with the NSA and the DOD scans taking a VERY long time to finish. I won't even BOTHER with the Gutmann scan as I want to be able to do other things (open browser windows) while I am on my computer. Anyone know why this is happening?
What do you mean by scan, analyse or run? I think you are saying that you are running CC with simple overwrite. What makes you think that it is overwriting multiple times? If it is the green progress bar then that does travel all the way several times in a run, but I would have thought that that was a progress indicator, not a sign that the same files are being overwritten several times.
There have been complaints that CC runs rather slowly. I haven't found this myself, but this may be the source of your concern. Apparently the next (imminent) release will fix this.
Gutmann? Don't bother with it. One overwrite is enough.
