CCleaner registry

Hello forum members I am new here and old to CCleaner.

In my old computer I have use cclearner for a long time but on new computer I used system mechanic but today I deleted and installed CCleaner.

As CCleaner can backup registry please some one tell me what if we need to resotre. How we could do that by using registry which are back up already?

What is the process? is there any one can help me. I use windows vista premium.

Thank you in advance.

Ari

When you use the registry clean (issues), a box will come up asking if you want to back up the registry items you have chosen to clean.

If you say yes by default it will save this in 'my documents'.

To restore the registry items you deleted/cleaned (if you found it necessary) just double-click the .reg backup or right-click and choose merge.

Hi;

New here.

I hope this is the right way to begin.

I've tried the right click and merge, but all that happens is the file opens and I can read it. I still have problems with my virus real time protection, (Sys Mech Pro 8).

What am I doing wrong.

I have a Dell 1100

Win xp home.

I realy like the CCleaner software, but it provides me some heartache when I use the registry cleaner.

Any suggestions?

Hi, thank you for your reply. Though I wanted to eat you as your name is tasty but I leave.

This is first time someone replied about registry restore.

I apreciate your concern.

Thank you

Ari

DDF,

I think it would be a good idea to try and get the virus section of your suite working as a matter of urgency.

From what I can see of that suite it contains a lot of elements incuding a registry cleaner.

What does the CCleaner backup call itself? Something like this cc_20080824_0626.reg which is the date and time it was made, and looks like a small sheet of paper with blue blocks on.

You haven't renamed it have you?

Perhaps your .reg file associations are mixed up. You can restore them by using the .reg fix from here

Perhaps it may be an idea to hold back on any reg cleaning until you have got things sorted out.
