Ccleaner registry did anything to ruin Cortana registry settings?

My Cortana is NO longer working, and has been for 2-3 months. I do remember vaguely that before it stopped working, I might done a registry cleaning with Ccleaner.

I am not sure if that is exactly why it stopped working. There could be other culprits. So I am not blaming Ccleaner.

Just wondering if this is a known issue for members on this forum?

if you still have your backed up .reg file from that reg clean, you could try double clicking it to re-merge its contents back into the Registry and see if Cortana improves.

I didn't find it. Could I have forgot to make a backup? I wouldn't know why I didn't make a backup. I usually DO!

Like I said, this is not a direct blame on this software, since I DON’T have a certainty about this at all.

I am trying to find out if any other users also had this problem?

If NOT, then maybe the problem has NOTHING to do with CCleaner at all. But if others also experienced this, then maybe someone can tell me which keys related were deleted and maybe I can recover it as well if you know exactly which ones?

see if tis helps; https://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/15101-re-installing-cortana.html

Nope. My issue had nothing to do with Geolocation. It was on the whole time.

Right-click on start and select command prompt as admin from the menu.

When cmd window appears copy and paste this in where the cursor is flashing

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

It can take a while and sometimes can appear to be stuck at 20%.

(You have to be connected to the internet when you do this.)

When finished, restart machine and see if it's all working now.
