On three seperate ocassions, while using CCleaner and cleaning my registry. After the cleaning, I had no E-Drive and could not burn or listen to CD's etc: With online help from H.P. I was able to re-install them. And by saving the instructions given to me by HP support, I have had to reinstall the drivers each time.
Can CCleaner be re- written so as NOT to do this? If not I'll still use it to clean all but the registry.
HP to my knowledge with their printer/scanner combos install some Sonic burning engine support. Although I haven't had any issues with CCleaner doing what you describe if you see any HP entries in the registry cleaner part exclude them.
When I had uninstalled the DivX Bundle which also uses the Sonic burning engine support it removed my CD/DVD drives and it took me a good hour to figure out how to restore them. A Microsoft article gave me many clues pointing me in the direction for a fix.
