The CCleaner Icon is gone in tool bar, just generic image, clicking does not open program, but I now get message: Windows can not access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. I am only user and administrator. Still in program list. Have Windows 10, use Firefox browser and also Malwarebytes, Avast, ESET-Nod32. Do not remember what could have caused this, do not have Product Key. What is next? Re-download?
Thanks, James Euler "James82"
It sounds as if ESET removed your CCleaner yesterday.
There was a short period where ESET was falsely flagging (the new version of) CCleaner and blocking/removing it.
ESET is fixed now and so, after making sure you update ESETs definitions, you should be able to restore CCleaner from ESETs quarantine.
Or simply reinstall CCleaner, however if you do that you may need to re-enter a valid product key (if ESET has removed the reference), so it's probably better to restore the one from quarantine if you don't have that key.
If you have lost a valid key and need to retrieive it then you can use this form: https://www.ccleaner.com/support/license-lookup
See this thread for more information on the ESET block:
ESET Nod32 did quarantine yesterday, but would not restore, have product key but in attempt to reinstall from your link the Installation stopped then got this message:
Error opening file for writing:
C:\Program Files\CCleaner|CCleaner64.exe
Click Abort to stop installation,
Retry to try again
Ignore to skip this file.
tried ignore but will not load. Should I remove all from system then download from home page at piraform?
Tried to remove from control panel, tried using CCleaner Professioanl Uninstall, but uninstalling hung up at the last line: Execute:

Still giving the warning: Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You May not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. What to do next is the question.
Just making sure; have you updated your ESET definitions?

<p>
<strong>ESET Update:</strong> Multiple reports from users that ESET/NOD32<strong> has fixed</strong> their false positive flagging, ... to ensure you get the fix ASAP you may need to <em>"right click on the ESET icon and choose update so it will update to the latest definitions then restart your computer. Then it won't be detected"</em>.
</p>
</div>
I'd do a restart (not shutdown/reboot) anyway and would then open Task Manager from the Task bar and make sure that CCleaner is not running in the background. (Smart Cleaning could do it).
That can sometimes cause install errors so 'End Task' on it if it is.
Then try installing CCleaner again.
TBH I'm not sure that if ESET has quarantined it once then you need to change something in ESET itself?
It doesn't seem so, from what others have reported then once the ESET definitions have been updated then all is well.
Yes, ESET updated this AM; with cold boot everything is back to normal and functioning for CCleaner Pro.
Good to hear you got it working again.
