CCleaner only works on first use following install?

Hi everyone,

It appears that immediately after install I am able to 'run cleaner' successfully. Any subsequent attempts to use the program however result in the error msg 'windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them'. I am using a standalone PC at home running XP sp3 and this happens even when running the program direct from its install folder and regardless of whether or not I stay logged on following install or reboot. Can anyone help me please?

If you run a setup file to install CC it may be influenced by things from the past that are still lurking in the registry;

perhaps even an unfortunate stipulation to include an action that prevents further use until a fresh instal.

You may have better luck by downloading the portable ZIP version which only needs to be unzipped, NOT installed,

then it should not be affected by ancient registry gremlins.

can you put up a screenshot of the error?

also try this

uninstall ccleaner

reinstall ccleaner

open the program

go to options>advanced

place a checkmark in "Save all settings to ini file"

then see if it still has this issue.

also please post attach said ini file to this thread (you may have to place it in a zip file first)
