CCleaner NOT removing ALL cookies

CCleaner 2.30.1130

Windows 7 x64

Norton nternet Security 2010

Everytime I run a Norton AV scan *after* using CCleaner, it (Norton) always finds anywhere between 3-9 "tracking cookies" that were left behind and NOT removed by CCleaner (see image).

Is there a reason why CCleaner is not removing ALL cookies on my system? By it's DEFAULT settings, are there folders that it does not clean that may contain browser cookies?

Can someone please tell me how to correct this (adjusting settings maybe)?

Thanks.

Possible flash cookie?

Possible flash cookie?

Does CCleaner not clean flash cookies?

If not, how can you add this to CCleaner.

Thanks.

Already checked.

shame norton does not show the location.

I cleaned a computer yesterday with over 200 infections, Norton failed to spot one.

Just a thought.

Looks like Norton is using scareware tactics.

It is finding problems it refuse to fix and says you have to fix them.

Does it also have a screen that offers (for a fee) an up-grade to a version that is enabled to fix ! ! !

Flash Cookies seem to appear in various new places.

So far I have the lot covered by adding to WinApp2.ini

FileKey1=%APPDATA%\Macromedia\Flash Player\|*.*|RECURSE

FileKey4=%APPDATA%\Adobe\Flash Player\|*.*|RECURSE

That gets rid of all Flash settings as well - but I never wanted Flash in the first place.

Another possibility might be to visit Adobe - I think they have a place to detect and remove flash cookies.

Do you mean this site Alan?

Oh Hazel, too late ! ! !

It does not find any of my cookies, because 5 minutes before I saw your post I ran CC and they all got zapped.

Yes, that is the site I vaguely remembered.

I am sure your link will be helpful to many who come on this topic.

me thinks norton is either

reading the cookies.dat file (which is I believe cleaned when restart happens after running ccleaner)

or

finding cookies in a non-normal place

try to track down the location of the file jazzy@go.com
