Hi folks. My CCleaner has exhibited abnormal behavior after the latest security patch. It has been really slow and no longer deletes app caches. I tried reinstall, made no difference. Anyone else having this problem?
The sape for me on Pixel 9 pro Xl
Hi @MarkVT & @afcpafcp,
Please could you tap the menu button in the top left of the app and select Settings from the menu that appears and select Send a log report.
I have sent you a DM to request the email address you used to send the logs so I can locate them in our system.
If you have any issues, please let me know.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for your patience while our team worked on this.
We have just released CCleaner for Android version 26.8, which includes a workaround for the cache cleaning issue affecting certain Android devices and OS versions.
With this update, when the app detects that automated cache clearing is not available on your device, it will switch to a guided manual cleaning flow. A floating overlay will appear with step-by-step instructions, showing you the app name, cache size, and your progress as you manually work through each app — keeping the cleaning process as smooth as possible within the current OS limitations.
To get the update, please open the Google Play Store, search for CCleaner, and tap Update if it is available.
For more details on this issue and the workaround, please see our Help Centre article: Limited or Failed Automated Cache Clearing on Android 16 and Later Devices
If you continue to experience issues after updating, please let me know and I will be happy to help.
I reallllllly hope this is a stop gap. Having to press clear cache on each is arduous and I might as well do it manually.
Hi @Nergal,
The semi-automated cleaning option introduced in the 26.8 update is only shown to users where the app detects that it no longer has access to the buttons it needs to perform automated cache clearing. If the app can still access those buttons on your device, you’ll continue to receive fully automatic cleaning as before — nothing will change for you.
We anticipate that more devices will be affected by this as they receive the latest Android 16 security patch, and the semi-automated flow will be presented to them accordingly.
In terms of how the semi-automatic process works — rather than requiring you to open every app individually to check whether cache cleaning is needed, the app presents each cleaning option to you in sequence. It takes you through each app one by one, showing you the clean cache button to tap, before automatically moving on to the next. This means the whole process is laid out in an easy, sequential way without any manual searching required.
Our development team are also continuing to investigate a permanent solution to this issue, so we’ll share updates here as they become available.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
