CCleaner interfering with MSN contacts

Has anyone had problems with CCleaner & MSN together?

For example, you add a contact and they are never online - then you ask them to add you - that doesn't work either. I contacted Microsoft about this issue and have went through all options and they could not provide me with a solution. It happens with every computer I use CCleaner on and I have tried various MSN versions. Thus - I have a gut feeling that I might have something selected on CCleaner that could be affecting MSN. Does anyone have any ideas and know whether it may be related to CCleaner? Thanks in advanced.

I don't have any problems running CCleaner and Windows Live Messenger in tandem. Have you tried an alternative MSN client, such as pidgin?

Hi Winapp22,

Yes, I have tried Yahoo! Messenger, Pidgin and even the Secure Comodo instant chat client.

it's usually because one or the other of you is offline/invisible. What makes you believe it has to do with CCleaner? I'm not doubting you've a reason, but you'll have to give us a little more to go on yo help you troubleshoot.

Hi Nergal - its not that the contact is offline or invisible. I have checked and confirmed that. In more detail - what's happening is I add a contact over Windows Live Messenger, then they never receive the invite. So, I then give them my email and ask them to add me, and hope that I receive the invite. Around 90% of the time it doesn't work and I cannot add them at all. I also make sure we both have the same version of MSN to make sure its not a compatibility problem. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure whether its CCleaner or not, but this problem begun a couple years ago, roughly the same time I started using CCleaner. I also noticed that you can clean MSN logs, etc with CCleaner so thought that if I had that checked it may cause issues? Thanks.

CCleaner has never hurt my systems, but Microsoft Patches often do.

You could stop using CCleaner for a few days to see if you can make MSN contacts,

and if you still have problems it is not CCleaner so you can start cleaning again.
