Not really a bug if :-
It is finding more to clean - which surely is a major reason for updating it ;
It is being more meticulous about over-writing every nook and cranny - another possible update benefit
Alan has a really good point. Although, I am not sure how much of the slowdown is caused by said statements.
Could you give us an idea by how much time the old version took, versus the one for the new one?
IE: How much did it slow down (approximately)?
Hello i do not remember but here is the actual speed with ccleaner (+ ccleaner enhancer) / Security erase 1 pass :
On a 7 home premium, laptop which has a 7200 trs/mn hdd 1902.667 seconds for 223 Mo suppressed security erase 1 pass 0,1172 mo per s
regards
A laptop with 7200 trs/mn hdd - is that another way of saying 5400 R.P.M. ?
CCleaner enhancer is NOT supported here.
If you wish to discuss speed then CCleaner enhancer should be removed or disabled.
I do not understand "suppressed security".
1902 Seconds to over-write a single file of 223 MBytes would appear excessive.
1902 Seconds for CCleaner to instruct Windows to individually overwrite a total of 223 Million files each consisting of 1 byte would not surprise me.
I think you need to state without the assistance of CC Enhancer,
not only the sum total of bytes cleaned, but also the sum total of files cleaned.
it's a way of saying 7200 rpm not 5400.
The "suppressed" was for security erase no "suppressed security" exists in cc : i just gave the erasing speed with and without the security erase feature to compare speed on the same computer.
I also stated cc had critically slowed down since an update . "Security Erase" was checked Before and after.
NO other program has slowed on my computer.
CC enhancer is Not installed, it's just a bunch of filters.... it does not modify the program and was runned over CC since the beginning.
here is the data for 1998 Files :
NETTOYAGE TERMINE - (455.146 secondes)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
102,4 Mo supprimés.
Effacement sécurisé des fichiers activé (Simple (1 passage))
it's a way of saying 7200 rpm not 5400.
Then why not just say 7200 RPM instead of having people guess what you're referring to, I've personally never seen it written the other way.
Actually CC Enhancer is installing something which is more cleaning entries of programs for CCleaner to clean. The problem is if you have too many cleaning entries it absolutely will slow down CCleaner either a little, or significantly. You'd need to go through the winapp2.ini file and remove any cleaning entries in it that you don't need.
i just gave the erasing speed with and without the security erase feature to compare speed on the same computer.
To compare speed on the same computer you need to state two different measurements,
Duration of a typical amount of removal using normal non-over-write deletion
Duration of a similar amount of removal using secure deletion single pass over-write
I do not see that you gave more than one measurement of 1902.667 seconds for 223 Mo.
By "suppressed security" I was not referring to a non-existent CC option, but to your statement
1902.667 seconds for 223 Mo suppressed security erase 1 pass
NB
I queried "A laptop with 7200 trs/mn hdd" because I am accustomed to Laptops having either 5400 rpm HDD or stationary SSD.
Suggestion :-
The display indicates each file as it is deleted, make a note of any that take a significantly large amount of time,
and then look at the detailed results to see how big they were.
You may find one or two files that took a long time,
and from their name and path it may be possible for us to advise on the cause.
My suspicion is that the latest version of CC is now removing something which the system is reluctant to lose,
probably anti-malware protection or special restrictions imposed by some application over its temporary files
Try it with 3.23 of CCleaner (the current version) to see if the issue still occurs.
If it does, try removing it & reverting temporarily to the last version that it worked with via filehippo.
If, after reverting, you still have the problem, please post back here.
If, after reverting, you do NOT have the problem, please also post back here so that we may attempt to resolve the issue.
