CCleaner has encountered a problem and needs to close

Hi, I have used CCleaner without problems for a few years now on my old pc but when i put it on a different pc with a fresh install of xp pro sp1 + all updates including sp2, windows error reporting gives me the message CCleaner has encountered a problem ... send report. I disabled error reporting but still get the message CCleaner has encountered a problem and needs to close. This happens whether i actually run the program or not .... all i need to do is open CCleaner and close it to get the error message. all functions of cleaner seem to be working ok ... just wondering why i'm getting the error.

sorry if this has already been covered, had a quick look through forum but could not see this particular one
