CCleaner got hung up on nvvflt.sys

I have a Dell Laptop, Dual core, 2.3 GHz, 8GB RAM, 64 bit O/S, Windows 7 Professional, SP1.

It got hit a few times in a row with a virus that redirected all websites to protectio. I would remove it with MalwareBytes, but that never did a complete job.

I downloaded CCleaner and ran it a few times, but it gets about 89% done and then hangs up on checking the file named nvvflt.sys (I think I misremembered the correct name. I know the last 3 letters were flt, but the first 3 might be something else). It was located in a Windows32 folder, I seem to remember.

I also had some registry issues during all this, but I ran INTREGOPT and that seems to have fixed them. I also did a backup with ERUNT before I did anything.

I'm not sure what to do next. I hesitate to just pick another anti-malware program.

Suggestions?

Thank you so much.

I am a science teacher, but definitely NOT a computer science teacher.

Sincerely,

Steve
