Ccleaner for windows10 being hacked

Just an fyi here - no response needed. I use CCleaner every day, all day. I am a frontline activist. Last night, when I was clearing my PC before logging off I got a pop-up message I’ve never seen before…

07/11/25 For the first time in years, I got an error message when trying to run CCleaner that “CCleaner cannot be used at your location.”

I am currently using ProtonVPN upgraded.

Steps to resolve:
**Unplugged modem (Vyve internet connection) for the night.
**Uninstalled and Reinstalled CCleaner

That was really weird. I tried twice, so I saw the same error message twice. I wish I’d gotten a screen shot and I will if I see it again.

I am still on Windows10, and I have to clear my PC frequently throughout the day due to tracking and surveillance attacks by big tech.

do you get the same message without proton? VPNs will often cause CCleaner to think you’re in a banned country.

why do you say hacked? nothing in your report seems to insinuate hacking or anything but misidentification of your public ip address

this was likely long enough for your ip to end its lease with your isp. this would allow your public ip to change (either from your isp or (again more likely) your vpn).
