Latest verison of CCleaner for Windows is not clearing passwords for Chrome OR Microsoft Edge. I imagine this is because both browsers recently removed the option to clear passwords when deleting cache, etc. And now there is no easy way to do this.
Thanks for flagging this — this isn’t actually a bug with CCleaner, but rather the result of how Chrome and Microsoft Edge handle password syncing when you’re signed into your Google/Microsoft account.
When CCleaner clears the passwords, they are immediately re-downloaded from the cloud to your browser because you’re logged into your account. So while the clean does run successfully, the passwords reappear almost instantly via sync.
To prevent this from happening, you’ll need to sign out of your Google/Microsoft account in the browser before running the clean.
Once you’ve signed out, run the clean as normal and the passwords should be removed. You can then sign back in to your account afterwards if you wish.
Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any further questions.
