Now while I respect you Tarun, I have to say, you spend a lot of time swinging with other techs (as well as a few wannabe techs). You need to stop being so overly defensive and lashing out at them, seriously. You'll be a great tech when you stop hoarding knowledge and just let go, and learn from one another. Have you read Mastertech's site? It's almost great, except for the advertisements, and a few miscellaneous peeves I had which I will save for a later thread. And the name Mastertech. But I digress, my name is not much better, as I am neither of the things my name describes (kind of like IDM, which is neither intelligent, nor dance music)...

This topic has gone from bringing up an issue with CCleaner, to saying Mastertech doesn't advertise enough, to saying Mastertech lies about who he is. As much as I love reading this topic and laughing, this flaming needs to stop.
As for discussion on the actual issue at hand, Mastertech is right in saying if the same version of the OS, IE, and CCleaner are used, every computer will have the same problem. Although if some other program interferes, things may change.
I did a quick test and Mastertech is right, using XP SP2, IE 6.0.2900.2180, and Firefox 1.0.6, the issue is only reproducible in Firefox. An easier way to fix it instead of closing Firefox and re-running CCleaner is to just hold down SHIFT while reloading the page. This will force Firefox to download everything from the server rather than using the cache. It would be nice to have CCleaner tell the user to close Firefox before cleaning so it won't happen.
And although I probably shouldn't say it, your guide Mastertech does have some things that I'd recommend changing.

I just download CCleaner today while hyper threading, two were using FireFox; lycos.com and http://forums.delphiforums.com/NetworkSecurity,
had no problems.
BTW thats a nice freeware found it on the second link above.
Always looking for newer stuff to play with.

You need to browse some sites or do some searches in Lycos with Firefox, then run CCleaner without closing Firefox. Now try to do the exact same searches again, things like the links will not work now.
Can I assume you mean sites, oh master? I have seen the sights and they are something,see you later.............know the song? Let's live in peace. We all are prone to err.
Is this issue being addressed? A new version is released and still no resolution for this. Other "cleaning" programs will let you know your web browser is running. I see Firefox is still enabled by default and selecting it gives no warning.

This issue could be resolved by prompting that the browsers will be closed before cleaning, then force the closing of them if they say yes.

Has anyone tested to see if this is still an issue with the new version of Firefox, currently available as the Deerpark alpha?
No but I can confirm it happens with v1.0.6.
1.0.6 is just a security and stability upgrade of 1.0, 1.5 (now being tested as Deerpark) is a major revision of the browser, including significant changes in how graphics are handled. I don't know if this will involve changing the caching system, though.
Since the release of 1.5 is scheduled to take place in a couple months, any revision to CCleaner intended to change the way it interacts with Firefox should be designed for that version.

I'm an experienced XP user, but a novice CCleaner user. FF is my deafult browser. Is this issue resolved yet please? I'm about to run CC and would like to know of any downsides!
