CCleaner File Deletion Suggestions

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Projects\SystemIndex\

File Types: GTHR File

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Projects\SystemIndex\PropMap

File Types: 000 File, 001 File, 002 file.....

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Projects\SystemIndex\Save

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Projects\SystemIndex\SecStore

File Types: 000 File, 001 File, 002 file.....

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Projects\SystemIndex\Indexer\CiFiles

file types:"CI File, DIR File, WID File, 000 File, 0001 File..., Dia File.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\GatherLogs\SystemIndex

File Types: CRWL File, GTHR File

I've noticed the folders are collecting backup copies that are unnecessary and duplicative. One can delete all but the file(s) to which the computer is actually adding data. These folder locations and file types should be added to the list of files deleted by CCleaner in future versions.

Thanks!

Hello Richard,

The files and folders you mention correspond to Windows Search content indexing. They can be deleted as follows:

1. Stop the Windows Search (wsearch) service via the "services.msc" MMC applet.

2. Delete all files and folders in "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data".

3. Delete the DWORD registry value at "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Search" called "SetupCompletedSuccessfully".

4. Restart the Windows Search (wsearch) service via the "services.msc" MMC applet. Windows will begin indexing from scratch, recreating any folders as necessary.

Naturally, the addition of this functionality would be welcome as an option in CCleaner, even if it was not selected by default.

Regards

DJ
