CCleaner does not open then freezes

I have the latest version of ccleaner installed on my pc and it works abouyt 85 percent of the time when I double click the icon on my desktop BUT once in a while when I double click the icon NOTHING happens then my computer starts to act funny and nothing else will open or run until I restart my computer, this ONLY happens when I try to open ccleaner!!

Any thoughts?

Ps: This has only been going on since I installed the latest version a few weeks ago.

Are you able to open the taskmanager when this happens to see what is happening there?

Does it show anything in the Windows Event Viewer at the time this happens?

Have you looked in MBAM and Avast logs to see if anything is blocked at that time?

Do you have CCleaner set to auto check for updates?

Usually the pc just won't do anything until I reboot but I think I did open the task manager one time while it was going on and it took about 3 or 4 minutes to open up and I don't remember if it said anything about ccleaner not responding, I will make a note of all these things and next time it does it I will check.

On a side note does this forum not have auto correct for composing messeges?

I've only just got the spell checker to work by going IE10 on Win8. :)

as to your problem, I would try and do some manual cleaning first, maybe even from safe mode.

empty recycle bin, delete restore points, even run CC from safe mode and see if it works for you.

for good measure throw in an uninstall, reboot and reinstall of CC.

Hmmm I have been letting it do the automatic updating for several months now thru several versions so maybe something along the way got fubared, I will unistall now and reinstall and see what happens over the next few days!!

O yea!! You mentioned spell check and windows 8, people are actually using windows 8 and not taking it back to the store once these realize what a joke it is??

Thanks for your help so far!!
