CCLEANER DELETES NOT COMPLETE

We've ben running CCLEANER for quite a while and thought that it was doing a real good job of getting rid of the all the junk etc left on our PC. The other day our "Computer Geek" youngest daughter had me run software called "MAXMYSPEED" on our PC. We ran this just after we had finished running CCLEANER. This new cleaner "found" 562 errors on our PC. Is this scan for real and if so why didn't CCLEANER find them first and delete them? They found the following items:

User Software Settings: 164 errors were found

System Software Settings: 275 errors were found

Active X and Com Sections: 72 errors were found

File Associations: 40 errors were found

Uninstall Sections: 11 errors were found

Of course they want you to "Activate" their software to fix the "problems". This we didn't do.

Grandpa, google MaxMySpeed and read the negative reports.

Hiya!

While some of those entries may well be valid ones to be removed, services like "MyCleanPC" and "MaxMySpeed" are generally hilarously overblown, not to sound condescending, but they're pretty much useless.

Cleaning out your registry is a topic of debate, but generally, unless you remove many thousands of entries, has no effect on your speed.

My advice would be to avoid products like these.

Edit: I downloaded this same thing, it turns up completely useless keys that aren't even invalid

> Bad file types: .HTML .PSB .SC2MAP

meanwhile, in sanityville, those types /are/ associated with programs :P

Edit2: Also the uninstaller has a TOTALLY different name from the program

Should be referenced under Scamware, I block all that bogus crap via my HOSTS file.

I'm somewhat amazed that software like this is still around, people really should know better..

I'd say my generation, but judging by the computer literacy rate in my class size of 252 (roughly 7 of us..) that wont happen
