CCleaner crashing newly installed XP sp2

I just installed XPpro (sp2) on a laptop that is new to me (Toshiba A75).

Everything is running fine, including Avast AV.

CC installed fine (latest version and 5.06.5219, I tried both) .

When I attempt to open CC (both manually AND with box checked immediately after install),

I immediately get the blue screen of death and this error message:

c000021a Fatal System Error

(0x7c9106c3 0x0052ec24)

I have been using the Cleaner for at least 15 years and NEVER had a problem.

I rely on the Cleaner and cant stand the thought of not cleaning up my new laptop!

HELP?!

It doesn't really support XP SP2 without issues unless you install a fix from Microsoft, see here:

I installed the Hotfix and no longer get the BSOD, my computer now reboots when I attempt to open CC (latest version).

Is there any particular version that works well with sp2?

Maybe I will try V 4?
