Since version 7, CCleaner uses more resources, takes significantly longer to complete, crashes after a while, and gets stuck at 90%, unable to restart. The service itself also cannot be stopped or restarted. And when I try to restart my computer, it freezes. It simply won’t restart. This didn’t happen with version 6. I have the Pro version. How can I downgrade to version 6, because version 7 is unusable?
If you are having issues with CCleaner 7 then consider going back to v6.39: How to Roll Back from v7 to v6.39
Follow ALL of the instructions there, particularly about turning off the Automatic Updating and deleting ‘CCupdate.exe’, if you do not follow the instructions then your newly rolled back CCleaner will just update to CCleaner7 again.
Hi @FaultyBrain,
Please could you let me know what features in CCleaner 7 you are using when you experience crashes and where it gets stuck at 90%.
Additionally, please follow these steps to help us investigate the issue:
- Replicate the issue on your end.
- In CCleaner, scroll to the bottom of the left-hand menu and click Help.
- Select CCleaner Support Tool from the options.
- Download and install the CCleaner Support Tool.
- Once installed, run the tool to generate the logs.
- At the end of the process, you’ll receive a 5-digit File ID. Please share that File ID with me so I can review the logs and investigate further.
If you have any issues, please let me know.
