Launch freshly installed CCleaner7 –> “CCleaner requires Microsoft Edge WebView2Runtime to run.” For several reasons, I remove Microsoft Edge from this Win10 PC. I really don’t want to reinstall it until MSFT forces another instalation..I’m going to switch to Linux instead of Win11 anyway so prefer to minimize dependency on MSFT. QUESTION IS THERE A WORKAROUND TO THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT INSTALLING EDGE?
It’s a known Windows issue with WebView2 Runtime being missing, corrupted, or not being up to date.
You may find that other things will also stop working, or stop displaying properly.
You need to repair or reinstall the Webview2 Runtime on your machine and then CCleaner will be able to run again.
You can repair or reinstall WebView2 Runtime without reinstalling Edge.
