Ccleaner and AVG Antivirus

I notice with the 3.05.1408 version of CCleaner, that a good number of files associated with AVG Antivirus are being cleaned. Some of these files are quite large, too. This does not seem to compromise AVG, it still reports that all subsystems are operational. Evidently AVG replaces these files, as they pop up as cleaned again the next day. Does anyone have insight on this? Here's a list of the files that CCleaner cleans:

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgcfg.log 5 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgcsl.log 52 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgexc.log 4 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avglng.log 12 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgpostinst.log 1 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgscan.log 3 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgsrm.log 9 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgsrmac.log 3 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgupd.log 533 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgupdm.log 3,977 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\avgwdsvc.log 19 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\commonpriv.log 76 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\fixcfg.log 3 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\vault.log 14 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\scanlogs\I_00000001.log 1 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\Log\history.xml 2 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\avg10\update\backup\incavi.avm 107,767 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\AVG10\IDS\config\internalList.zip.bak 2,521 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\AVG10\IDS\config\quarantinedList.zip.bak 1 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\AVG10\IDS\config\userList.zip.bak 1 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\AVG10\IDS\profile\globalLoadable.bak 17 KB

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\AVG10\Temp\file9514.tmp 0 KB

Many thanks.

I have no AVG specific experience,

but I would only refrain from cleaning the log files and the signature backup file if AVG did a "bad thing",

and then I would preserve those files to assist in determining what went wrong and how to fix it.

If you have doubts I suggest you seek advice from AVG user forums (I think you have a choice.)

They're log files, deleting them will just cause them to be recreated by AVG.

Yes, and it's also rather pointless to delete the logs in anti-malware software hence they could be needed to see what was detected, etc. Good antivirus software doesn't even allow the logs to be deleted by cleaning software.

Okay, so I went in to Ccleaner setup, the Exclude menu and inserted this: C:\ProgramData\AVG10\*.* ...which is as close as I could come to finding and specifying all files that Ccleaner cleaned (see list in original posting). But Ccleaner is still cleaning these. Any suggestions?

If you're trying to exclude that folder and it's not working I don't know if this is a "bug" in CCleaner or not, or just a "non-intuitive feature", although I recently had similar issues trying to exclude Microsoft Security Essentials.

Since trying to exclude the whole folder doesn't work try this instead:

1. Completely remove the exclusion from CCleaner.

2. Run Analyze.

3. In the analyzed file list of what AVG10 entries can be deleted, right-click and select: Add to Exclude List

You'll have to do this for every AVG10 item listed.

4. After you've excluded them all run Analyze again to see if they show up in the list.

I can get closer, i.e.

C:\ProgramData\Application Data\AVG10\*.*
