CCleaner 7 losses scan / update ability randomly - cannot connect to licence server

Seems on updating to CC7 it stops working. Or rather it does work, but then afte ra hew hours no loing has ANY menu item to clean/update do what it is meant to.

A reboot does seem to fix, but not always. In looking it says “cannot load detaisl of the subscription used on this PC”. Why?

This was NEVER an issue on CC6 and lower. Seems the new “update” has seriously broken things.

@Support - any clues to what is being done to fix/any logs I can send?

That ‘disappearing menu items after a fee hours’ sounds as if something is shutting down the CCleaner service.

CC7 runs as a “Windows Service” and we have seen in the past that if the service is not running only the first two lines of the menu show.

The developers know about it and are apparently working on a fix

Do you have any other cleaner or optimiser that may be closing the CCleaner service?

Or perhaps you have an AV/malware scanner that may be doing it?
If you have one other than the built in Windows Defender then check it’s logs to see if it is stopping CClesner service.

@Nergal you are more familiar with this ‘stopped service’ issue than I am, any suggestions?

Useful to know the Dev team aware of it. Not god thou.

I do have AV (aka, who does not!) - Avast. It has never tried to “kill” services before, so don’t see what it could be that.

Now I know there is a CC7 service, I have looked in the WIndow logs (System).

I can see an error for this - namely “The following service has repeatedly stopped responding to service control requests: CCleaner 7

Contact the service vendor or the system administrator about whether to disable this service until the problem is identified.”

So there IS a material bug (defect) in the service… Aka, CC need to fix it!

If you would like to you could pass on your findings to support.

TBH though I wouldn’t anticipate any much more of a reply than a:
“Thanks. we know and are working on it”.

If you do want to take the time then:

To start raise a support ticket by using this: Contact Form.
Once you submit the form you will be given a support ticket/ID number onscreen, with a summary of your request.
it should also open a ‘Live Chat’ where a virtual assistant will try to help you.
If the AI can’t help then you will be passed to a real person.

Yup i agree sounds like service. Developers are working on a way to restart service in the ccleaner gui
