Personal Experience with CCleaner
As a system administrator, I have relied on the free version of CCleaner for more than ten years. Throughout this period, I consistently found it to be an excellent utility, which led me to feel a sense of responsibility to support its development financially. Eventually, my conscience prompted me to purchase the paid version, believing it was well deserved for such a dependable program.
Recent Changes and Disappointments
Unfortunately, my opinion of CCleaner has changed due to recent updates. The program has become noticeably slower and more cumbersome, losing the efficiency and simplicity that once defined it. The interface has grown overly complicated, resulting in a frustrating user experience that contrasts sharply with its earlier versions.
Installation Issues
When attempting to install any version 6 derivatives of the product, the installer automatically downloads and installs version 7. This prevents users from selecting or using older versions as intended.
Subscription and Renewal Concerns
By default, the product sets auto subscription renewal. An initial payment of $15 for the βProβ version led to discovering that the renewal rate would increase to $48. This unexpected cost prompted immediate cancellation of the subscription.
Uninstallation and Registry Remnants
Efforts to remove CCleaner 7 using Revo Uninstaller were reported as successful. However, upon inspecting the system registry afterward, more than 120 hidden entries related to the product were still present.
