I am using here CCleaner Professional 6.30.11385 (64 bit), registered version with Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) 22H2 Build 19045.5131.
I have noticed that CCleaner in this version Smart Cleaning with “enable smart browser cleaning” (“automatically cleaning with notification”) is no longer cleaning the cookies of all browsers (Firefox, Edge, Chrome). When using manually “Custom Clean” the CCleaner is removing the Cookies, but the Smart Cleaning should do the same.
It seems that CCleaner is not picking up the right folders for cookie cleaning, and it would be nice when it is adjusted.
[“An error occurred: Sorry, you can’t embed media items in a post.”, so I have to place the screenshots on a third-party server – how cumbersome.]
With “Smart Cleaning” I mean “Automatically clean on closing with notification” in the menu “Smart Cleaning”:
I am using Cleaner since 2012, and in all the years “Automatically clean on closing with notification” was performing an auto-cleaning with the settings in the menu “Custom Clean”. In my case, inclusive “Cookies”:
The saving of cookies is not in the Drop-down-menu “Smart Cleaning” but in the menu “Cookies” (see right table), which is completely empty:
Just in case the non-cleaning of cookies is not a bug and furthermore a new feature, I have to cancel my subscriptions on all machines, because the cookie removal with “Automatically clean on closing with notification” is one of the main reasons to buy CCleaner, and I have to look for a different software.
I think you’re confusing healthcheck and smart monitor which monitors you browsers for when they close and runs custom clean’s routine for that browser.
@kreien is correct - Smart Cleaning is supposed to use the same rules as Custom Clean.
Kreien are you saying that Smart Cleaning is not running when you close a browser?
Or are you saying that it is running when you close a browser but is not cleaning all the cookies?
The first could be because the browser isn’t fully closing when you think that it is.
ie. Something browser realted is still running in the background so Smart Cleaning isn’t being triggered.
Look for things like quick startup settings for the browser, settings that let extensions and Add-ons run in the background, settings that allow automatic updating even when the browser is closed, and so on.
Settings like that keep browser related tasks open so Smart Cleaning does not run because the browser hasn’t fully closed.
Browser also have an annoying habit of turning those kinds of thing on again without telling you.
PS. When you run Custom Clean does it ask if you want to close the browser?
(even though you thought that you already had done)
Smart Cleaning is in general working when closing a browser, only the cleaning of cookies is not working (in the past it was working properly). Cookies of all browsers are kept after Smart Cleaning. I can remember that in the past there was a similar issue years ago with one CCleaner-Update.
So let’s see if we can work out what is happening for you.
Firstly - What is it that makes you say Smart Cleaning is not clearing the cookies, where is it that you are still seeing them?
Other questions that may (or may not) be relevant -
Do you have your browsers synced?
Do you also have Windows web cache selected in Custom Clean?
PS. You should now be able to upload images directly to the forum.
You can use the upload icon on the editor window, or you can copy/paste or drag/drop them in.
