Windows 10 Prof. 64-bit, CCleaner Vers.6.09.10300 64-bit Portable
Hello,
I have a strange display under extras/ uninstall.
There is an entry according to the Macrium Reflect program, with an installation date from 1.1.1970. At this point, Windows was not yet talking on this planet.
It is even more strange that the Macrium program version is displayed there with the current name 8.1,7387. (Add a photo with)
Fortunately, this is the only case of this kind.
I don't feel like removing the affected Macrium program and reinstalling again.
So I ask if there is another way to correct this crazy installation date.
Thank you for a useful answer.
I see the problem with CCleaner.
Mountain: I have "Revo Uninstaller" 5.0.8 The latest verse and I have Windows "Programs and Features". In both, this installation, both from the date and in all other matters, is entered correctly. So only the CCleaner remains. If I write an email to Macrum Reflect, I will immediately get the answer that I should contact CCleaner.
So I turn in a circle. I thought that someone has had such a case here and therefore knows how to correct it.
Hallo Hazelnut,
I had written that I had other uninstaller software such as "Revo Uninstaller" or from Windows 10 "Programs and Features". All data is displayed correctly there.
Of course I installed CCleaner in German
I did not install CCleaner on the drive D, i.e. not on C of the system drive.
The strange thing is the CCleaner the installation date in 1970, a time when I know it was not even Windows, and a PC as we don't know it either. So completely out of time. But CCLEANER entered the correct version number of Macrium. That's not normal.
And yes, this is the only case of an incorrect installation time on my PC and the only case in CCleaner.

</div>
The 1970 date is just a 'placeholder date' that Windows and other software will use it it can't find the actual date.
That date is used <u>because</u> it is a date from before Windows existed.
They could just as easily have used zeros, or a blank, to show the date can't be found.
Don't worry about that 1970 date, it isn't important other than showing that the actual date cannot be found.
Like Hazelnut I also cannot replicate your issue.
My installed CCleaner and CCleaner Portable both show the correct installation date for my Macrium Reflect.
Which does indicate that there is something different about your own installation of Macrium, and that where CCleaner is expecting to find the date it isn't finding one there.
So we need to work out what is different about your Macrium Reflect.
Is your Macrium installed at the standard location, C:\Program Files\Macrium\, or is it installed somewhere else?
In my answer today I wrote 2 hours ago that the Portable version of CCleaner was not divided on drive C, but on the drive D, where all other programs are also installed. Drive C is an SSD with 250 GB, so I install everything on drive D, an HDD 2 TB.
As it is a portable version, it is not installed.
I ask again, why did the other programs correctly recognize and assign the installation date ???? And only CCleaner not and only with this one program, whereby the version number was recognized correctly and up to date ?????

CCleaner is obviously looking in a different place than the others.
Such a date will be recorded in more than one place.
It will be in Reflect's own setup/log files,
it will be in Windows files for the computer,
it will be in Windows files for the user account which it was installed from,
it will be in the Windows Registry in more than one place,
and so on.
So one of those records on your machine is not holding the correct date for some reason - and that one record just happens to be the one that CCleaner is looking at.
That record may have no date in it, or the record itself may be missing altogether.
But no; I don't know which one it might be that CCleaner looks at.
I would suspect though that the problem is something to do with your Macrium being installed on D: rather than on C:
I have to ask - Does it really matter?
One date being shown wrongly in just one place is not going to affect anything.
I reported a similar problem in my 24-Jan-2023 thread CCleaner v6.07 - Incorrect Install Dates at Tools | Uninstall. Forum Moderator Andavari posted <here> that these incorrect software installation dates in CCleaner are "a very old bug going back many years".
No, it is not important for the functioning of Windows and Macrium. But I would like to have it okay. And it's so unusual. I haven't owned a PC in 1970. I therefore cannot have software with appropriate entries from this time. There can also be no software from this time, since there was no Windows in 1970.
As already written, I also installed all other programs on D, other portable programs. None of this has such a stupid date. And this date has only been so wrong for a few days.
So where does this date come from ???
If you don't have a solution, I ask if it would be a solution if I remove CCLEANER Portable and charge again after a restart of Windows ???
I ask for an answer.

Woher also kommt dieses Datum???
No, I think it's a CCleaner bug that has to be fixed by Avast / Piriform, so reinstalling CCleaner Portable won't fix the problem.
You might also notice that the size of many of your installed programs is missing in CCleaner at Tools | Uninstall, especially for Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store - see my 25-Jan-2023 post in lebsman340's Tools-Uninstall List Not Showing Size of Installed Program For Many Programs. Piriform employee johnccleaner posted <here> on 13-Sep-2022 in lebsman340's thread that they would notify the CCleaner developers about these missing program sizes but they never posted back with a status update to tell us if or when this would fixed.

From Google Translate:

I personally just ignore the install dates it shows because they can be wrong sometimes.

I've been using CCleaner for almost two decades and I personally don't trust any feature in CCleaner these days except Custom Clean.
Newer features that Avast / Piriform have added in recent years like Software Updater, Driver Updater, Health Check, Performance Optimizer, etc. are too buggy to be used safely, so I switched to CCleaner Free Portable a few years ago. When a new version of CCleaner is released I delete everything in my CCleaner folder except the configuration file (ccleaner.ini) and only keep three files from the new unzipped ccsetup6xx.zip file - the main CCleaner64.exe executable (since I have a 64-bit OS), portable.dat, and License.txt (optional).
<div class="ipsQuote_contents">
<p>
... But if you only leave the four files in the CCLEANER folder, I ask what is still working in the program and what not ????? ...

Hi Rothirsch:
I haven't done extensive testing but I don't really care as long as Custom Clean and the registry cleaner work correctly in CCleaner Free Portable .
If you download and unzip a fresh copy of ccsetup609.zip from https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds then the only two files in the \x64 subfolder (highlighted in red in the image below) are CCleanerBugReport.exe and CCleanerDU.dll. CCleanerBugReport.exe is part of a new reporting tool that collects and sends telemetry data back to Piriform for analysis (this reporting tool was added to CCleaner v6.04 but never documented in the release notes <here> - see nukecad's 23-Sep-2022 post in C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleanerBugReport.exe as Part of v6.04 Pro), and I believe CCleanerDU.dll is part of the Piriform Driver Updater, so if you delete that \x64 subfolder folder I assume those two features would not function correctly.
If you only keep ccleaner.ini, portable.dat, CCleaner64.exe and License.txt then your CCleaner interface will default to English, so if you use German or another non-English language you would have to keep the \lang subfolder (highlighted in green in the image below) as well.
We have now exchanged our arguments in 17. We did not get any closer to a solution to the problem.
I personally take the entire correspondence to see that it is most likely to be a bug at CCLEANER. I therefore no longer see any need to continue this entertainment. If all other components of my PC display the data correctly and only CCLEANER, then no further words are needed to determine the culprit.
It is only sad that Piriform and the Ccleaner developers do not show a tendency to remove this error. Well, it's a free version. You have to accept certain things or not. With a paid version, I would also react differently.
So I would like to thank everyone involved for the lively participation in my request and since everyone is actually said, I end the discussion for myself.
Thanks again and all the best
Rothirsch

The whole incorrect install date thing was something I've ignored for so many years, so I just went in to look at what it had listed and it's interesting at how it's guessing because a few of my OEM drivers have listed that they were installed today, when in fact those drivers were installed many years ago.
I wonder why they just haven't been removed it from CCleaner and be done with it.
