CCleaner 5.89 no crfl in Save to Text [(mostly) fixed in 5.90]

The Duplicate Finder Save to text file is broken in the v5.89.9385 (64-bit) update.

The text file created consists of a single line. There are no carriage return/line feeds.

Don

The Tools / Uninstall List (Save to text file) also does not have carriage return/line feed either after v89 update.

@Dave CCleaner

Perhaps you could get the team to look into this.

Hello @DonBl @mac.and.cheese , please send our team an email at support@ccleaner.com with your issue so they could have a look over your issue.

Following - same problem in updated version 5.89.9401. One long string of text

Always worked fine in earlier versions for importing in to Excel

Ideally, either restore the carriage return in text file, or add export to .csv file option would be good.

When you go to Tools/Save to Text File/Save the install.txt file created does not have crlf at the end of each line. This behavior started with 5.89.9385 and is not fixed in 5.89.9401.

Why would it be fixed in 940? it's an incremental quick bug fix for crashing 9385. This bug is in. 89 and, if the developers can find a fix it'll likely happen in .90 or later versions.

I assumed it's a very quick fix to add crlfs in creating the install.txt. It used to work fine before 89. And the install.txt file is useless as it is.

Heya @vkundakci, our devs are aware of this issue and are working on a fix for the next regular version update.

how do i go back to a version where this works correctly? this problem exists in the duplicate file finder save results to text file too.

I usually keep an older version on a different computer, so I am running 5.88.9346. Just google "older version of ccleaner" if you trust downloading from one of those repositories--I usually avoid them.

I'm trying to list all my installed programs.

In the past I've used the Tools>Uninstall>Save to text file... function.

This would normally produce a tab delimited file that I could import into Excel,

but currently is does not seem to produce tab delimiters.

Previously if I opened the file in Notepad it would look something like:

Programs Publisher Install Size Version StartMenu

3D Pinball    Microsoft Coprporation    7/26/2021    5.10 MB    5.1.2600.5512

3D Viewer    Microsoft Corporation    10/27/2021        7.2107.7012.0

Now there aren't any tab delimiters and everything appears run together like:

3D PinballMicrosoft Coprporation7/26/20215.10 MB5.1.2600.55123D ViewerMicrosoft Corporation10/27/20217.2107.7012.07-Zip 21.06 (x64)Igor Pavlov1/26/202221.06Adobe Acrobat XI ProAdobe

How can I restore the functionality?

Has something happened to my .txt file associations?

Running Windows 10 Home 21H2 64-bit, Excel 2019, CCleaner 5.89

You're the second to report something wrong in list export. I'm certain the developers are looking into it. Thank you for the time you took to report this.

Indeed, as per this:

... there is already a ticket in with the development team who are working on this currently have completed work on this and it is one of the items scheduled for February's 5.90 release.

Note that the upcoming fix resolves the "save to text file" output formatting in a number of places:

  • Tools > Uninstall;
  • Tools > Startup;
  • Tools > Disk Analyzer; and
  • Tools > Duplicate Finder

It is not fixed in the Analyze, save to text > log.txt

As Dave CCleaner said above, it should be fixed in the 5.90 release.

Does 5.90 have a release date? I have thousands of duplicated files to sift through (I'll run the list through Excel), and the duplicate finder is useless to me now.

Just to make sure the developers have really fixed it -- are they also aware that it was outputting two-byte characters (not only was it missing delimiters, it wasn't in straight ASCII -- it looks like unicode)?

I thought you can download 5.88 from https://www.ccleaner.com/knowledge/ccleaner-v5-88-9346 but I was wrong. The closest I could find is 5.86.9258 on uptodown.com but use at your own risk.

@ThomasLG

You can download the standard installer for Ccleaner v5.88.9346 here:

https://download.ccleaner.com/ccsetup588.exe

Be sure to turn off/uncheck automatic updates (Options -> Updates) BEFORE

reinstalling 5.88.9346, otherwise Ccleaner will automaticaly update itself

back to 5.89.9401 !!

In Options -> Cookies, right-clicking in "Cookies to Keep" and selecting "Export" will save a list of hostnames, but there won't be any line breaks between the names. For example, if my Cookies to Keep list is:

1password.com
abcnews.go.com
accounts.google.com

it will export the list as a text file with the single line:

1password.comabcnews.go.comaccounts.google.com

and if I right-click Cookies to Keep and select Import, it will add a single entry with that name, which of course is useless.

If I've exported a large number of Cookies to Keep, and then I try importing that list, it will crash CCleaner immediately (probably because it doesn't expect a single site with such a large name).

If I hand-edit the exported cookies file to add line breaks between the hostnames, then I can import it properly.
