CCleaner 5.43.6520 - Cannot opt-out of privacy exposing compulsions !

Interesting thing just happened.

I also have CCleaner Free on my Android phone and it's just updated.

In the Menu > Settings there is a new 'Personal Privacy' section which has one entry - "Share usage data with third parties for anaylitics".

This has a slider button which is on by default but it CAN be turned off.

An improvement by letting it be turned off, but under GDPR it should still not be on by default.

(and it probably shouldn't be 3 levels in, but that one is debatable).

8/10 must try harder.

Just block Ccleaner executables in your firewall, (as I always did), problem solved.

Again, I'm not bothered about the data - I'm just trying to help Piriform comply with the new legislation.

It's not really the data collection ("analytics") since it was revealed that they already did that, more like avoiding issues, etc.

Looks like a hotfix has been released to let you uncheck the options:

EDIT- Confirmed, there is now only the 3rd party warning and it is unselectable.

(Still shouldn't be pre-selected to fully comply with GDPR, but it's a start).

Quick work and shows that they do listen.

Apologies for the link, I can't edit it - just scroll up from there.

Please also demystify this - 'Update prompt' despite our adverse configuration towards 'system monitoring' & 'active monitoring' !?

Do you have Options...Settings..'..'Inform me of updates to CCleaner'' ticked ?

Hi hazelnut !

Iam sorry...my fault.

Didn't notice that before.

& by the way, Thank you so very much for coming up with the Latest release devoid of Privacy sneak-peek pangs. :-)

All the very Best! …& keep going.
