Ccleaner 5.27.5976 Crashes When Cleaning Firefox Compact Database

Hello all,

After troubleshooting and process of elimination, I have discovered a setting that is related to Ccleaner crashing, after a recent update to version 5.27.5976. When the Firefox Compact Database cleaning option is selected, it freezes/crashes at 96%. I have had this selected through several updated with no issue. This issue does not occur while cleaning Chrome's compact database.

  • System: Windows 7 32 bit
  • Firefox version 52.0 (latest version which has eliminated support for NPAPI plugins like Java and Silverlight).

Will there be a fix for this bug soon? Let me know if you need any additional information.

Thanks.

This is a known bug with the recent version. The developers are aware and working to get a fix asap, so it'll be (hopefully) fixed in the next version.

Gotchya! Thanks for replying to the Newbie so quickly. B)

Do you know where the Ccleaner changelog is on the site? I couldn't find it. At least that way I can keep abreast of update details...and hopefully a fix soon!

Version history is here:

Thanks!

Hope this gets fixed next round. I'll check back in next update.

I just want to let you know it is still there.

if you mean the .28 update did not fix the issue, thank you for reporting, I'll try to get an answer from devs.

Yep. Version 5.28.6005 (64bit) will not allow access to Chrome or Firefox. Crashes.

The moderation staff has been told "it should get fixed" next time around, which would be in version 5.29.

I just wanted to reply after finding this thread on google, that I am also experiencing this crash. Latest version of Firefox (52, 64-bit) and CCleaner (5.28). Issue only seems to affect one of our PC's, several others work fine. The problem didn't start until we updated Firefox yesterday. Error goes away when un-checking the "Compact databases" option. Same problem within version 5.29.6003. Doesn't matter whether it is an x86 or x64 machine.

As soon as you run the cleaning process, as it gets to compact Firefox it bombs out.

If I remove the Firefox "Compact Database" option, it's all good.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

They were supposed to fix it, however Firefox also released a new version recently. So maybe they'll be chasing and playing keep up with that just like Win10 with ever changing software.
