I have the same problem after upgrading to CCleaner v5.22 !!
When user tries to clean the PC, CCleaner takes a VERY LONG time with Edge now. What used to take around 1.5 sec's to 5 sec's NOW can take up to 88 sec's or more!!!
This computer uses a Samsung SSD, very fast. Only option I had was to remove the latest update, and go back to v5.21, which works perfectly. Don't know what you guys did, but you messed up my CCleaner Pro pretty good.
I also NEVER run Edge on my PC, as I don't care for Edge at all. I use FireFox, Chrome and sometimes IE11. Mostly use FF
I found this happens when specifying the cookies to be cleared. Other items does not affect to the processing speed.
As you said, most user and also I does not use for daily browsing. So the cach datea or cookies do not remain because they were already cleared by previous CCleaner runs.
I hope CCleaner engineers will fix and release the revised version.
I have the same problem as others after updating to version 5.22.5724…Horrible Slow Processing Time
After updating to 5.22 on 9/14/16 at 8:15AM, CCleaner takes too much time analyzing Edge data (up to 2 minutes.) This error did not occur in the previous version (5.21.) Additionally, I DO NOT USE Edge at ALL!
I use a Windows 10 (64-bit) PC, with Intel Core i7-6700 @3.40GHz, 24.0 GB RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card.
I will NOT be updating my other computers to this version. Hopefully Piriform/CCleaner engineers will resolve this issue quickly. If not, I will have to find a competitors software application and start using it instead of this version.
I have the same problem with version 22 it is most too slow i will go back to version 21 and it is done now. Piriform must come down to a solution off this problem. I will stay on version 21 until further instructions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
