Hello dbogle51,

Welcome to the forums. :D

Take the time to get this if you don't already have it.

Link to the following website and download Dial-a-Fix program. It is a most beneficial program for many WinXp users.

You need to get this and put it into your C:\Windows folder in case you need to get to it .

It is always good to have this program on your WinXP PC. I have used it many times to get me out of trouble.

At the bottom of the Dial-a-fix window click on the Hammer(tools).

You need SFC purge and then SFC scan. You may need your install disk also.

The purge is for security reasons. DO NOT DO IT IF YOU DON"T HAVE YOUR INSTALL DISK AVAILABLE.

You can do the SFC scan. This will reload your system files with fresh copies.

Good luck,

davey

P.S. You can use Start > Run and enter this command sfc.exe /scannow

But you should take the time NOW to get Dial-a-fix if you don't already have it.

Thanks.
