When I tried to uninstall CCleaner 2.00.495, so as to perform a complete "fresh" installation of the new version (my attempt at being clever), I found the only part of CCleaner to be removed was the listing in "Add or Remove Programs".
Although CCleaner remains installed and seems to still work perfectly well, I'd still like to uninstall it and newly install the latest version, if only to ensure the program is complete - I don't know what running "Add or Remove..." may have done.
Does anyone know how I can uninstall it, now that it has disappeared from "Add or Remove..."?
I've had a few programs that I've uninstalled from my system, but they still appeared in the Add/Remove list. In some instances, it should ask you if you want to remove the item off of the list (since it might have detected it removed).
Also, it's a good idea (if you haven't done this already) and go find the file of CCleaner and see what was removed. For the most, if you go to install a newer version the installer for the new version should uninstaller all unnecessary parts of the older version and install the parts for the newer version.
You don't need to uninstall CCleaner so you can install a newer version. Just installer the newer one over the top. That way you keep the same settings that are stored in the registry, like protected Cookies etc.
Hazelnut: I tried "Safe Mode" but it still wasn't listed in "Add or ..."
Forte Lambardi: I tried the ZSoft "Uninstaller" but, although it seems to be a superb program, CCleaner still wasn't listed.
Keithuk: Thanks for the welcome. I've downloaded and installed the latest version and everything seems to be going swimmingly; CCleaner has even returned to "Add or Remove..." list. One of the reasons I didn't do this, before posting here, was that, as the initial "removal" via "Add or Remove..." hadn't worked, I feared trying to remove the program may have damaged it and what would be the point of installing a new version over a damaged version?
I didn't want to suddenly discover, for example, all the files I'd securely deleted hadn't been deleted, due to a fault caused by messing around with "Add or Remove..."

How did you uninstall CCleaner - from Add/Remove Programs?
How did you uninstall CCleaner - from Add/Remove Programs?
I don't know. The fact that running "Add or Remove..." only deleted the listing in "Add..." and not the program itself is precisely the problem I'm trying to resolve.
As I've said above, I've upgraded to the latest version and don't appear to have any problems. CCleaner is back in the "Add..." program listings, although listed only as "CCleaner (remove only)...0.92MB", but I presume this is how it's listed for everyone.
One of the easiest and often recommended solutions for removing software that mysteriously fails to uninstall is to actually just re-install the version you have, then attempt an uninstall again.
Older CCleaner versions are archived on Filehippo.com, in particular the version you're dealing with is listed here.
Also if you go into c/program files and look for the program you want to uninstall, open the folder and there is usually an uninstaller for it for you to use from there.
Sometimes it's easier to uninstall it that way in safe mode, less conflicts.
