CCleaner 2.0 is nearly finished, we've just made a release candidate available for download!

CCleaner v2.00.495 RC

  • Fixed issue where some subfolders weren't being deleted.
  • Several 64-bit compatibility improvements.
  • System information detection update.
  • Scan now filters out desktop.ini files.
  • Improved display routines to reduce flicker on some systems.
  • Added better error tracing code.

I've been using CCleaner for over a year now and it remains the best application of it's sort available either for free or purchase. With each upgrade I can't help but think how the staff at Piriform are really in tune with what their customers need and are looking for.

I'm looking forward to using the dfrag application that is due out soon.

I tip my hat to the software engineers and programers at Piriform. Well done!

Like the two recent betas, the RC also wipes out typed URLs in IE browser drop down list even though clean box is deselected. Why so hard to fix this obvious bug? Reverting back to pre-beta version solves this issue.

hi, new here and like the program alot. everything seems to work ok except the uninstall screen only shows 11 programs that can be removed. other versions showed all. any one else notice this?

I really think that CCleaner has the potential to be the worlds best privacy tool for windows users. Can I please highlight my post where I reported some problems with Vista and problems with the ini file defintions:

hey caldor...read your post about vista and tried to run CCleaner as admin...all programs showed up in the uninstall screen. thanks! didn't CCleaner used to require admin rights to run?

Why is it (still) not possible to clean the "PREFETCH" folder content in "Secure file deletion" mode?

Anyway, if you need to know, I am using WinXpPro(x86)SP2.

This program worked flawlessly on my XP machine. I just installed v2.00.495 on my Vista laptop.
