CCleaner-Professional was always found in my Recycle Bin when I right clicked on that desktop icon.
After doing a routine update of CCleaner, it is now missing from the Recycle Bin, but, is now found at the bottom of my screen in the tray. Opening and using it to scan for issues in my Registry, CCleaner is comes up. Attached is an image of what I have just seen; I did not remove or delete anything yet.
My questions now are:
1- Was this a real CCleaner update or a Trojan that wants to simulate it by removing the first?
2- If is was a real update and download, the download itself had issues where parts were missing and I was asked about skipping them, re-trying or canceling the download.
Anyone having this issue or who can tell me if it's safe to use and delete the issues that are found?
you talk about updating but your screenshot shows v5.24.
if you have got the latest version, yep, one of the many issues it is currently experiencing is running from the Recycle Bin context menu.
from my experience, v5.40 is the most stable of the all the releases this year.
if you want to get previous versions of CC, they can be found at FileHippo.
to reinstall, do this;
uninstall your current version first.
then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its contents
(keep the .ini file if you have customised settings)
download the latest build from here; https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds (or use FileHippo for previous versions)
reboot the PC then install CC from your downloaded file.
to convert this Free version to the Pro, go to Options > About and enter your license key.
