I'm using the latest free version of cc cleaner and have recently run into a problem. I have "empty recycle bin to Windows log files checked in the system section. When I run cc cleaner it finds (for example) 2 Mb to clean. Then if I click "Run cleaner" I get the following shown below the "files being deleted":
System
Empty Recycle Bin
D:\$Recycle.Bin\ then a long series of numbers followed by files that are not in the recycle bin or on my hard drive anymore.
If I let it run...which takes quite a while I then get (ex): 976Mb removed as shown: System-Empty recycle Bin 997,304Kb 26 files
System-windows log files 10Kb 4 files
Applications - Office 2010 513Kb 6 files
Windows - Ms search 2,048 2 files
Now...if I then run cc cleaner again, it finds for example 3Mb to clean, and if I click "run cleaner" it goes through the whole thing again. taking ages to complete with a similar list of files to clean as shown above!
If I run cc cleaner with "empty recycle bin" unchecked there is no issue.
Assuming it's a corrupt recycle.bin (according to Google search) I've tried that but to no avail.
Any help/advice appreciated.
P.S. Installed an earlier version but the issue remains.
Did you follow the exact steps?

NOTE: You may need to repeat this inside of each hard drive or partition letter that you have displayed in Computer.
Thank you for the quick reply. I thought i had it solved as I omitted to apply the "fix' to my D drive as well as the main C drive. In D drive after clicking delete it finds 486Mb of files and deletes them...all well and good. However, I've just run CC cleaner again and the issue still remains...i.e. after running CC cleaner again it finds the same files as before!. I've just run it again for a third time and the files are still there. If i right click on the $recycle.Bin in d drive and click delete it shows there are 486Mb of files within the folder. Any other hel[p appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul
What OS are you using?
What is drive D on your machine?
Are you actually deleting the recycle bin and then rebooting to re-create the bin as shown in link?
Have you tried in safe mode?
Hi again,
Win 7 Home Premium
C drive is the operating system etc. D drive holds my photos/music/software etc
I'm doing everything as per the link. Right click on $RecycleBin...delete...etc...then rebooting.
When I run CC cleaner (analyze) it now finds perhaps 3Mb of files...then clicking run cleaner causes the progress bar to go very slowly whilst the 480Mb worth of files supposedly get deleted.
Haven't tried safe mode...will try it now.
Update: tried in safe mode...issue still exists. I do note (in normal or safe mode) that after right clicking the $Recycle.bin folder in D drive, and after it supposedly deletes the 486Mb of files, the folder still shows! The $recycle.bin folder in C drive does not remain after deleting but reappears after rebooting (expected).
