First of all let me say the CC Cleaner is a GREAT product!
The issue/questions I have is
- why does it not delete files in location C:\?\?
- what is the C:\?\ designation?
- the files in that location that I am interested in deleting have a xxxxxxxxd01 designator
Thanks
Snowball
Could you provide a full path and file name? Im not sure what you mean by the designation for ?. CC dosent allow wildcards on the root of a drive so C:\*d01 or C:\?123*.D01 wont work for example.
But C:\Folder name\*D01 or C:\Folder name\*.D01 will work.
I have attempted to attach an image from a portion of the Recuva log that shows the path.

I dont use recuva but have seen similar in other recovery applications. The path C:\?\ is not a valifd path. I suspect the issue is that recuva dosent know (or cant recover) the original path. That may even be the case with the file names. Since they appear to be randon alpha numeric strings of 8 characters for the file name and D01 for the 3 char extension.
Also keep in mind recuva is ascanning to recover files that have been removed/deleted from your drive. Its not scanning 'good' files that havent been deleted that are present.
