can't Update CCleaner after using portable version

I've been a CCleaner for years and love it but I've hit a snag.

I have CCleaner installed on my hard drive and also on a flash drive. I ran it off the flash drive once to test before going on the road. Now I can't update the version on my hard drive. When I try to install the update I get a series of error messages saying it can't find certain files on my K: drive (the old flash drive). Even when I uninstall CCleaner and scan the registry for leftover links I can't install a new version.

How do I redirect the installer to my old location on the hard drive?

I don't know if this will work, however it's worth a try:

1. Download the portable version, and unzip it into: C:\Program Files\CCleaner

2. Run the portable CCleaner.exe file, then close CCleaner

3. Download the setup version and see if it works.

Even if the setup version doesn't install you can however use the portable version.

I think I got it. Your suggestion Andavari got me to thinking. I had put a regular version of CCleaner on my flash drive, not the portable version. Once I plugged in the flash drive and uninstalled the version located there I was able to update the existing version on my hard drive without any problems. Everything seems to be working well now and I have downloaded the correct portable version for my flash drive.

Thanks for your help.
