Can't uninstall toolbars

Hi there,

Somehow a family member has downloaded TWO unwanted toolbars. One is MapsGalaxy and the other is FromDocToPDF.

I have tried to remove them from view by unclicking them on the toolbar option but they just keep appearing every time I sign in.

My Mozilla Firefox search engine no longer works. It just won't let me search unless I have an exact www.address. I either have to call up Google or use one of the above's search engines (which I don't want to do).

I thought I would be able to get rid of them by uninstalling them from the Add or Remove Programme option, but they don't appear in their (or at least under the above names).

I did a search for them and found they are in the Prefetch file. I found and removed one - but the toolbar appeared when I signed in again. I can't find the other toolbar in there, although the search said both are in the Prefetch folder.

I don't think deleting the contents of the Prefetch folder will get rid of these two irritating, unwanted and intrusive toolbars permanently - or will it?

How do I rid my computer of these two toolbars?

Any ideas folks?

Justine

Yes, start a new topic instead of tacking onto the end of a four-year-old not quite related topic (I've split your post into this new topic).

Deleting prefetch entries won't uninstall or change anything. It's too late for my brain cells to work tonight, but if they did I'd start with a Google search. The answers to most things are there.

Please see here, unwanted toolbars and issues with browser searches can be a sign of infection.

On the topic of adware (toolbars) you can try ADWCleaner, which is a wonderful tool for removing unwanted side-installations like toolbars. It will also revert things like Firefox search settings back to their defaults for you.

Thank you all. I'm sure I'll find the answer somewhere amongst your suggestions.
