cant open win10 photos/store after a registry clean

I've been using CCleaners registry cleaner for years and I've never encountered a problem up until my last cleaning, after which when i try to open a photo it gives me a "The remote procedure call failed" error, and the store crashes when i try to open it.

I've had this problem since for a few weeks and trying various solutions online did nothing, only learned that its probably happening because of missing/corrupt files in the registry

I have two registry backups in my documents:

- one from 11.5.2017 (after which the problem started occurring), 75 kb in size

- one from 19.9.2016, 33 kb in size

and I have a system restore point from 21.5.2017

I merged the 75kb one, but it didn't resolve the problem, so my question is do I try with the much older registry backup, do I try the system restore point or do you have another solution on how to fix this?

if you have had this problem for a few weeks, you need to put the registry back to a time before the incident.

so if that restore point of 21.May is before the issue, then try that.

or look for other restore points, but I'm guessing your cleaning has removed those.

another solution is to change your default software used to open pictures.

sounds like it is currently set to use the Photo app.

you could either reinstall that from the Windows App Store, or change the default (in Control Panel, Default Programs) to some other photo viewing software installed on your PC.

maybe Microsoft Office Picture Manager, Paint, VLC, InfraView and many others.
